New T&D Europe leadership takes office

On the 16th of March Yann Fromont took up his new role as President of T&D Europe, while Dr. Jochen Kreusel became T&D Europe’s first Deputy President. The formal change of leadership followed their election by T&D Europe members in November 2019.

Mr. Fromont, Vice-President Standardisation and Governmental Affairs in the Power Sector Division of Schneider Electric, thanked members for their trust and looked forward to strengthening the association further. “I believe that the energy transition is building an energy system that is digital, decentralised and decarbonised. This will be a complex journey, dotted with political and regulatory uncertainty. It will require T&D Europe to be agile and professional, so that it can continue to be an active contributor.”

Dr. Kreusel, Market Innovation Manager, Group Senior Vice President, ABB PowerGrids, also expressed his gratitude to members for placing their trust in him as Deputy President. He said that “electrification will play a key role in reducing CO2 emissions and technology will be the key to make it happen. Together with other stakeholders of T&D networks, in particular the network operators, we can support the Commission by demonstrating that Europe can strive for more – and deliver. Making Europe a market striving for more ambitious targets and more innovation is an opportunity to deliver on the healthy planet and at the same time strengthening the entire eco-system around electrical networks.“

Yann Fromont takes over from Gerhard Seyrling, General Manager Europe & Russia, CIS at GE Grid Solutions, who has led the association for a total of six years. During his two terms as President, Mr Seyrling has seen the association evolve into an effective, active and increasingly visible voice of the grid technology industry. “I am pleased to handover the leadership of T&D Europe to a very strong leadership team. The T&D industry is well placed to make its important contribution to the development of Europe electricity network.”

Mr Fromont is currently Standardisation and Governmental Affairs Vice President of the Power System division at Schneider Electric with a worldwide coverage. He has served as Vice-President in T&D Europe in charge of the strategy area innovation. With 30 years of experience in the T&D industry, covering most of the markets and geographies in terms of strategy and marketing, Yann brings tremendous experience, energy and a proactive attitude to T&D Europe.

Dr Kreusel is an electrical engineer by profession and holding a doctor’s degree from RWTH Aachen University. He has served as Vice-President in T&D Europe leading the strategy area energy policy. He has been working in the T&D industry for more than 25 years, most of the time at the border of markets and technology and always looking at both electricity transmission and distribution. During this time, he has become a recognized representative of the industry and thought leader in Germany, in Europe and beyond. In ABB he is currently Market Innovation Manager of the Power Grids business, a global function closely linked to the management of ABB`s Power Grids business.
